John A. TheodorouWelcome to the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture and to the sacred city of Mesolongi. The Department of Animal Production, Fisheries and Aquaculture (APFA) is dealing with the primary productivity from terrestrial and aquatic animals, fisheries and aquaculture. Motivated by producing tangible results with a direct impact on the research community and society, I strongly believe that our faculty member, outlined below, fits perfectly with the mission of the Department. Focused on the interaction between ecosystems and human society, Department’s primary mission is accomplished through two major pillars of targets; scientific research and education, thus building up on scientific knowledge and research skills, our faculty members have the opportunity to put the theoretical knowledge in practice. Cross-disciplinary tools were also developed in cooperation with other University Departments, research units and different stakeholders.

To achieve the above-mentioned objectives, a five years Curriculum was designed that leads to the award of Integrated Master’s title Level 7 for the graduates. The Department also supports exchange opportunities through ERASMUS internships and leads to postgraduate programs for Master and PhD.

Taking into account the most up-to-date educational facilities, meeting all international criteria and adopting innovative facilities in both theoretical and laboratory training, course are carried out in modern and fully equipped buildings, creating, thus, the appropriate conditions that in turn will contribute to challenging and youthful academic environment.

In the curriculum the students will find a complete overview of the description, structure, division units and synergies of the Department, Syllabus, and other information regarding hosting facilities, boarding and health care.

Once again, we welcome you and we wish you a pleasant and successful studentship.
