Explanations

Code numbers:

Each lesson corresponds to a code consisting of three characters (AS_) and numbers.

Courses are taught only in specific semesters as mentioned in the curriculum.

Contact hours:

The courses are taught through Lectures (L), Tutoring (T) and Laboratories (LB), which are registered in the curriculum as hours per week. This number of hours, as well as the number of hours students participate in the exam, is known as contact hours (CH).

Teaching units

According to art. 24, par. 3 of Law 1268/82, 1 teaching unit (TU) corresponds to 1 hour of lecture or 1 hour of tutoring or 2 hours of laboratory exercise for one semester.

Credits:

According to the general program of educational activities of the University of Patras, the teaching of the courses takes place in two semesters of 13 weeks at least each and the examinations in two periods of 3 weeks each and a period of repeated examinations of 4 weeks. Therefore, the overall training process takes 36 weeks. According to Law 1466 / 13-08-2007, 36-40 full weeks of teaching (including tutoring and workshops), preparation and exams are estimated at 1,500-1,800 working hours (total workload of a student that includes the hours for lectures, workshops and others according to the curriculum – study, preparation of assignments and exams, and exams) and correspond to 60 credit units (CU). Therefore, according to our data, the 36 full working weeks correspond to about 1,500 working hours and therefore 1 CU is equivalent to 25 hours of total workload.

Degree calculation

The way of calculating the degree is the same for all Greek and is determined by the provisions no. F. 141 / Β3 / 2166 (Government Gazette 308 τ.Β. 18–6–1987), Β3 / 2457/88 (Government Gazette 802 / 16.6.1989 τ.Β) and Β3 / 2882 / 16.6.1989 (Government Gazette 507 / 27.6.1989 τ.Β) and has the following: the grade of each course is multiplied by a factor, which is called the coefficient of gravity (CV) of the course and the sum of the individual products is divided by the sum of the coefficients of gravity of all these courses. The coefficients of gravity range from 1.0 to 2.0 and are calculated as follows: teaching units (TU) per lesson 1 – 2 have a coefficient of gravity 1.0., TU 3 – 4 have CV 1.5 and courses with more than 4 TU have CV 2.0.
