The \u201cAlliance\u201d is growing with the scientific contribution of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/asfa.upatras.gr\/\"><strong>Department of Animal Production, Fisheries &amp; Aquaculture of the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Patras.<\/strong><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The project has three main pillars:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>to amplify knowledge and empower all fisheries stakeholders (Port authorities, auction markets, Fisheries authorities, professional and artisanal fishers etc) regarding the <u>legislation regulating the protection of sea turtles, sharks and rays in Greek waters<\/u>.<\/li>\n<li>to train all fisheries stakeholders (Port authorities, auction markets, Fisheries authorities, professional and artisanal fishers etc) on&nbsp;<u>identifying vulnerable species (sea turtles, sharks, rays) and safe release techniques when incidentally caught<\/u>.<\/li>\n<li>To raise awareness on general audience with a focus on <u>consumers<\/u>&nbsp;with respect to&nbsp;<u>unsustainable fishing practices<\/u>&nbsp;and their negative impact on fish stocks and guide them on how they can contribute to the imposition of the legal framework.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The project will focus on 10 Greek ports: Kalloni (Lesvos), Alexandroupoli, Kavala, Michaniona (Thessaloniki), Alonnisos, Piraeus, Kiato, Kylini, Preveza and Corfu.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-378\" src=\"https:\/\/asfa.upatras.gr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/09\/symaxia-ii-en1.jpg\" alt=\"Photo rays\" width=\"768\" height=\"305\" srcset=\"https:\/\/asfa.upatras.gr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/09\/symaxia-ii-en1.jpg 768w, https:\/\/asfa.upatras.gr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/09\/symaxia-ii-en1-300x119.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Goal<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The project \u201cAlliance for Survival II\u201d aims to improve stakeholder\u2019s awareness on the need to protect sea turtles, sharks and rays, the current legal framework, as well as to provide training to all fisheries stakeholders in safe release techniques tailored to the needs of each taxa group.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-377\" src=\"https:\/\/asfa.upatras.gr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/09\/symaxia-ii-en2.jpg\" alt=\"Photo sea turtle\" width=\"768\" height=\"305\" srcset=\"https:\/\/asfa.upatras.gr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/09\/symaxia-ii-en2.jpg 768w, https:\/\/asfa.upatras.gr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/09\/symaxia-ii-en2-300x119.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>SEAlly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-379 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/asfa.upatras.gr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/09\/sealy5-300x275-1.png\" alt=\"Photo logo SEAlly\" width=\"74\" height=\"68\"><\/p>\n<p>Now the protection of the Species is in your hands!<\/p>\n<p>SEAlly is a mobile application aiming to engage all sea lovers to Citizen Science.
